Kentucky State Police searching for man charged with attempted murder of police officer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police are looking for a man charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
Police are looking for 62-year-old Floyd Ray Cook of Lebanon, Kentucky. Authorities say he is wanted in connection with an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday in Algood, Tennessee.
A state trooper attempted to stop Cook on KY 61, but officials say he took off.
That's when police say Cook wrecked his truck and began shooting at an officer from inside the truck. The officer returned fire, according to police. Authorities say the officer was not hurt.
Cook then ran from the scene.
Officials describe Cook as a white male; he's 6' and 160 lbs. He has blue eyes, grey balding hair and grey facial hair. Cook was last seen wearing blue jeans and a green "Carhart" type jacket.
Officials say Cook should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding Cook's location should call Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 or 911.
