LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – After starting the year red hot, UK finds itself slumping and searching for answers.
Stop me if you’ve seen this before.
Mark Stoops knows the plot looks awfully familiar but on Monday at his weekly press conference, Stoops said his team wasn’t about to pull a 2014.
“I still fully 100 percent believe in this team, what we are planning on doing this year and what we plan on doing this week,” said Stoops.
UK hosts Tennessee (3-4, 1-3 SEC) Saturday. The Wildcats (4-3, 2-3 SEC) will look to end a two game losing streak and seek to end growing concerns that history is repeating itself. Last year, Stoops led his team to a 5-1 start only to lose out the rest of the way and miss out on a bowl game.
“Believe me, I fully know where we were at and where we are headed,” said Stoops. “I know that people say ‘well you’ve been here two and a half years, how come it ain’t fixed?’”
Stoops believes everyone needs to do a little better and a little more. And yes, that includes himself and his coaching staff.
“We have to put our players in a position to win. It is not all on them and never is or ever will be.”
Kickoff is Saturday at 7:30 in Lexington.
