LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bourbon Raw, the southern style restaurant and raw bar, officially opened to the public on Wednesday.
The owners want it to have its own, fresh identity.
"You have those touches that are still southern inspired touches but we've tried very hard to make this a modern, chic restaurant," said Beth Smith, Event Manager at Bourbon Raw.
It has about 100 selections of bourbon, two private dining rooms and a menu full of comfort foods.
"Jamie Jones is a great chef who is very focused on making sure that the food that he puts out is great food and great quality as well," Smith said.
The menu may be brand new, but the owners are no strangers to the space.
It used to be Maker's Mark Bourbon House and Lounge but was closed after ten years of business.
A racial discrimination lawsuit was filed against the restaurant, but was later dismissed.
Bourbon Raw officials refused to comment on why the owners decided to close the restaurant back in June.
"We want to focus on Bourbon Raw being its own space and Bourbon Raw being that it is," Smith explained.
Bourbon Raw is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and serves brunch on the weekends. For more information, click here.
