NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- After years of talk Jeffersonville has a new marina.

Now called Fisherman's Wharf the docks opened Thursday night.

The wharf now features 15 boat slips to hold 30 boats, public green space, a rebuilt shoreline and a wall that will serve as the fishing pier.

Two years ago, boats were forced to leave the marina because of the dilapidated conditions.

Originally the plan called for 50 boat slips but that was scaled back due to budget concerns.

Jeffersonville received two grants to help with the $3 million cost.

City leaders say the new wharf is an economic boost to downtown.
