LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- This morning, students were dressing up in costumes, but not for treats or candy.

Kids at Indian Trail Elementary School are celebrating being drug-free, just like their favorite super heroes. It's all part of the school's drug-free Red Ribbon Week.

The school bought costumes for the kids who might not otherwise have them.

Even the principal got in on the action, but admitted it doesn't take a costume to make a hero.

"No matter if you have a costume on or not, you are a super hero because you are drug free, and we want you to remain that way for the rest of your life," said Principal Joseph Wood.

Principal Wood says wearing costumes is just one way to get kids excited about a lesson that could save their lives.
