Agreement in place for railroad crossing gates in Buechel, councilman says

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An effort to install railroad gates at a dangerous crossing is finally making progress, according to a Louisville Metro Councilman.

Steve Magre (D-District 10) says an agreement has been reached to move forward on the crossing gates in Buechel.

The crossing at Buechel and Crawford Avenues has seen five incidents since 2000.

In March, three JCPS teenagers were killed when a train slammed into their car as they crossed the tracks

Magre says an agreement has been signed with Norfolk Southern Railroad to get the gates installed.

No word yet on when the gates will be installed.
