LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- University of Kentucky football fans arrived at Commonwealth Stadium for the Wildcats' season opener on Sept. 5 to a brand new setup.

The transformation of the 42-year old stadium began in 2014, adding several amenities necessary to compete with more modernized SEC venues.

A new student section, press box, box seats club seats, recruiting room and concourses were just some of the additions. A brand new exterior facade also upgraded the stadium just off UK's campus.

The seating capacity was slightly reduced in the process, going from 67,942 to 61,000.

The Cats next take the field in Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, when they host the University of Tennessee.
