Pair charged with stealing mail from Louisville homes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing mail from two Louisville homes.
According to the arrest report, it happened around 2 'clock Saturday afternoon on W. Tenny Avenue near S. 4th Street. That's where police noticed two people -- 35-year-old Doreen Arterburn and 32-year-old Matthew Pierce -- "kneeling behind a trash can, tearing open packages" and putting the contents in a plastic bag.
Pierce told police he was taking the items -- two black lithium batteries and two Dewalt batteries -- to the Rite Aid on Taylor Blvd. and Bluegrass Ave. for a refund. Arterburn "was found to be in possession of three sets of HV800 Bluetooth Earphones and a license plate" she claimed Pierce gave her to hold onto.
Police used tracking numbers on the packages to find the rightful owners of the packages.
Pierce and Arterburn were arrested and charged with two counts of theft of mail matter and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
