LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former University of Louisville guard Kyle Kuric will undergo surgery for a brain tumor, his team in Spain announced Tuesday. Tuesday evening, U of L coach Rick Pitino expressed his support for the player.

“We’ve had some pretty big disappointments in the past few months, but nothing compares to this," he said in a statement. "Our prayers and good wishes go out for a healthy and speedy recovery for Kyle.  He’s one of the finest young men that I have had the privilege to coach and our Louisville family’s prayers are with him.”

Kuric will undergo surgery in a hospital in Barcelona. His team, Herbalife Gran Canaria, for whom he has played since 2014, has asked its fans and fellow players in the league for prayers and support.
