LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit on Liberty Street early Wednesday.

The accident happened on Liberty Street near I-65 just after 6 a.m.

According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell says the victim is a black male, in his late 60s. Mitchell says he was dressed in dark clothing was in the roadway when he was struck by the driver of a white Chevy Tahoe that was eastbound on Liberty Street. 

Mitchell says the victim was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.  

Liberty Street was shut down between Floyd and Preston for an investigation by the LMPD Traffic Unit.
