Seneca High School briefly placed on alert after unfounded report of gun at school

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Seneca High School was on heightened alert for a brief period Wednesday after receiving reports that a student may have brought a gun to school -- but the alert has since been lifted.

According to JCPS spokeswoman Bonnie Hackbarth, officials received the report around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Hackbarth says the district's K9s were sweeping the school, but LMPD had not been called to assist.

During the search, the school was operating under Level 4 security, which means no activities were allowed outside the building and only restricted activities were allowed inside.

Officials say there was no active threat -- and no weapon was found.

Hackbarth says Goldsmith Elementary, which is located next door, was not affected.
