Police: Missing woman could face criminal charges

LaGRANGE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A young Kentuckiana mother disappears, leaving her husband and small child behind.

Police don't think she's a victim, but say she could be a criminal.

Police say Patricia Stark is with a man she met on social media and they're using her grandmother's credit card to fund the getaway. The last time she was seen by family members, she was at Walmart in La Grange.

"Patricia had no additional clothing with her or any other personal items with her and that was actually the last that the grandmother had actually seen Patricia was on Sept. 30," said Major Bruce Goodfleisch, with LaGrange Police.

La Grange Police believe Patricia Stark is with Matthew Taylor.

Major Goodfleisch explained, "The investigation showed that he is originally from the state of Washington and he is in the United States Army. Where he is stationed at this point, we do not know."

Major Goodfleisch says he believes Stark and Taylor met on Facebook.

"Our investigation has revealed that Taylor and Patricia Stark had been seeing each other in la Grange since Sept. 8," he said.

Police say there were red flags shortly after Stark went into this Walmart in late September.

"We're concerned in this particular case because of the suddenness of her departure and because she has made no contact with her family and friend and for the fact that we have not been able to locate her," Goodfleisch said.

Meanwhile, after Stark disappeared, a family member realized a debit card was missing too.

Goodfleisch said, "And we had the bank records provided to us by the grandmother that showed all the different locations that the card was used."

There has been at least one sighting. A concerned hotel manager spotted the two at the LaGrange Best Western and contacted police.

"Officer went to the room and located both Patricia Stark and Matthew Taylor in the room and had done routine checks but there were no wants or warrants for 'em at that point," said Goodfleisch.

Police don't believe stark is in danger, however, she has a husband and small child...which makes her actions a little concerning.

"Her Facebook account has been deactivated, and we just have absolutely no contact. Nobody in her family or her friends circle have had any contact with her," said Goodfleisch.

Right now, police are working with the military to determine Matthew Taylor's whereabouts, they feel confident, that's where they'll find Stark.
