LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some local food service companies teamed up to give back to a man who put his life on the line for our country.

Retired U.S. Army Sergeant Christopher Jenson and his four children now have a $5,000 Kroger gift card, presented by former U of L basketball coach Denny Crum.

The surprise will help the Jensons a great deal as Christopher is medically retired and his wife takes care of him.

"It took a lot of burden off our shoulders," Jenson said. "I went to Iraq three times and went to Afghanistan twice and I got injured the last time I went to Afghanistan. But I wouldn't trade any of it. I love what I did. I loved fighting for our country."

The gift is from Eckrich Meat Company and Kroger.
