LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three LMPD officers have been cleared of any wrongdoing in two fatal shootings.

Marc Christiansen shot and killed 28-year-old John Jolley, Jr. on Sept. 23, 2014. Police said Jolley was holding a gun when Christiansen shot him.

About a month later, on Oct. 28, 38-year-old William Mattingly died. Police say he shot at officers -- and Officers Rondall Carpenter and Skylar Graudick returned fire, killing him.

In each case, a special investigation was conducted by LMPD, and it was determined that deadly force was necessary.
