Annual "Push-Ups For Charity" event aims at raising $4,000 for veterans

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Many people in Louisville spent Saturday morning honoring veterans by hitting the ground and working out.

It was the second-annual "Push-Ups For Charity" event in Louisville.

The goal is to raise awareness for returning service members.

Teams do three rounds of push-ups, each for 90 seconds, trying to hit 15,000 push-ups.

The event's chairman, who's only 13 years old, says they're trying to raise $4,000 to help veterans afford things like housing or PTSD therapy dogs.

"Veterans keep our country safe," Jack Chauvin said. "Here's $4,000 so you can go back to school or something like that."

The national "Push-ups for Charity" goal is 1.4 million total push-ups to represent the 1.4 million active-duty military members.
