LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jessamine County paramedic who was hit by a car last week has died after being taken off life support.

Paramedic John Mackey's ambulance was involved in a minor accident with another vehicle Thursday night in Nicholasville. Mackey was not injured in the crash, but when he got out of the ambulance, he was hit by another car.

Mackey leaves behind his wife, Janine, who is also a paramedic, and three children.

A GoFundMe page the family set up says Mackey's family plans to donate his organs.
