LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana man agrees to plead guilty to two murder charges in the deaths of a Harrison County couple.

Harrison County, Ind., prosecutor Otto Schalk says Austin Scott agreed to the deal late Thursday afternoon. Scott's guilty pleas would come in exchange for a sentence of life in prison without parole. A judge will have the final say on the pleas and a sentence in January.

Scott would plead guilty to charges of murder and felony murder. He is accused of the beating and stabbing deaths of Gary Henderson, 70, and Asenath "Sennie" Arnold, 57, in August 2013.

Police said Scott and his friend, Kevin "Drew" Schuler, broke into the couple's home on Walk Drive to steal guns and prescription drugs -- and the incident escalated.

Court records say Scott and Schuler implicated themselves in the murders after being arrested by New Albany police on unrelated charges. Scott is accused of repeatedly stabbing Henderson to death. Schuler is accused of using a "wooden stick with a metal end" to beat Arnold to death.

Both men were 18 years old at the time of the crimes.

Friends of the victims said in 2013 that Arnold was in a wheelchair and couldn't fight back.  Gary Henderson was well known for his horse and carriage company and worked weekends at the Huber family farm in Starlight, Ind., for 20 years.

Schuler has pleaded not guilty to murder, robbery and burglary charges and awaits a trial scheduled for May 2016.
