Funeral today for Jessamine Co. paramedic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Funeral services will be held today for a Jessamine County paramedic who died in the line of duty. 

John Mackey's service starts at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Nicholasville. 

Mackey was critically injured last week when he was hit by a car. He died after being taken off life support on Monday.

Mackey had worked for Jessamine  County EMS for 16 years. He was a husband and father of three. 

Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of Mackey.
