LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- You may have seen some major police activity Friday as a number of crimes sprawled across the city beginning at about three in the morning.
Louisville Metro Police were active in the southern and eastern parts of the city and assisted St. Matthews Police in a search through the area around midday.
Here's an approximate timeline with links to the stories:
3 a.m. Friday -- Police were called to the scene of a murder at a Red Roof Inn on Preston highway. The victim was later identified as Thomas Grismer, but police still have not released suspect information.
8 a.m. -- Police were called for a report of a robbery at the Jefferson Credit Union on Ormsby Station Road. Police say a suspect jumped from the bushes and forced employees into a safe before taking off with an undetermined amount of cash.
11:00 a.m. -- Police have not released much information about a chase that ended shortly after 11 a.m. at a Super 8 Motel in Radcliff. However, we know one person was taken into custody.
11:30 a.m. -- St. Matthews Police (assisted by LMPD) begin searching the area for two homicide suspects.
12:10 p.m. -- Walden School and Holy Trinity Parish School were placed on lockdown during the search, while St. Matthews Elementary was placed on heightened security.
1:15 p.m. -- The search was concluded when two suspects wanted for questioning in connection to a murder were taken into police custody following the two-hour manhunt.
Police called a press conference at 2:45 p.m. to address the activity and brief the press. We will have updates throughout the evening on WDRB News and WDRB.com.
