SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police are searching for a killer who took the life of a 7-year-old girl.

Gabriella "Gabby" Doolin was at a her brother's football game Saturday night with her mom in Allen County, Ky. Her mother called the Scottsville Police Department when she noticed the little girl was gone.

"Her mom realized she was missing and immediately called 9-1-1," Trooper BJ Eaton with Kentucky State Police said.

Doolin's body was found about 30 minutes later in a creek in a wooded area behind Allen County High School. An autopsy confirms she was murdered but the cause of her death has not yet been made public. KSP is leading the investigation.

"We haven't arrested anyone so that just heightens everyone's awareness but I can assure you awe are working diligently to find out who did this," Eaton said about the investigation.

The community set up a makeshift memorial to Doolin. Rickey Goodnight drove from Franklin County to leave an angel at the site.

"It was shocking when I first heard it. I thought it was an accident," Goodnight said. "I just figured it would be a good thing to bring for a little angel that's going home to be with the Lord."

Trooper Eaton says the little girl's murder is a reminder for all parents to keep children close.

"Keep a close eye on them because this can happen so quickly, in an instant," said Trooper Eaton.
