LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A group of Kentucky employers are calling for better treatment of the LGBT community.

They want a Statewide Fairness Law, which would update Kentucky's Civil Rights Act.

It would add lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to discrimination protections in the workplace and housing.

Each company in the Competitive Workforce Coalition already adopted its own LGBT-inclusive policy.

"Our non-discrimination policies keep us competitive statewide, nationwide and worldwide, and help us recruit and then retain the best without any impediments." Brown-Forman director of community relations Rusty Cheuvront said.

More than 150 corporations and small, locally-owned businesses are part of the coalition.

Louisville and seven other cities in Kentucky already passed LGBT Fairness Ordinances.
