LMPD union votes to allow 12-hour shifts, pending legislation change

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD union members voted to allow 12 hour shifts for officers as they try to petition a change in Frankfort.

More than 900 officers voted in favor of allowing 12-hour shifts if the legislation they have been pushing for gets approved.

A study performed last year suggested LMPD move from its schedule of 10-hour shifts, to eight or 12-hour work days instead. But in September, officers moved to eight-hour shifts.

In order to move back to 12 hour shifts, changes must be made in the state legislature.
