Police say Louisville man set several fires after dispute with homeowner

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several serious charges after police say he intentionally set fire to a garage and several dumpsters near Churchill Downs. 

According to the arrest report it happened on July 31 around 5:30 a.m. That's when police say 39-year-old Jesse Thompson intentionally set a fire at a garage in the 1400 block of Clara Avenue near Longfield Avenue and Taylor Blvd. Police say Thompson also set four nearby dumpsters on fire as well. 

Police say Thompson was involved with a dispute with the owner of the the property where the fires were set. Police say two witnesses identified Thompson on video surveillance in the parking lot of one of the dumpster fires. 

Police say the fire department responded to the fires "on an emergency basis, causing a risk of death or serious physical injury to the firefighters and the general public."

Thompson was arrested on Nov. 19. He is now charged with several felonies including arson and four counts of wanton endangerment. He is being held at Metro Corrections on a $7,500 cash bond.
