LACETT | UK women’s basketball team stays unbeaten

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Janee Thompson scored 17 points and dished out seven assists, leading 13th ranked Kentucky past Colorado 86-61 Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum.

Thompson, a senior, suffered a broken leg last January. She worked all summer to return to form.

“When I was rehabbing all I thought about was when I was going to be able to get back on the court and how I would play,” said Thompson after the game. “With every game I’m getting a little more comfortable.”

Thompson is averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 assists in four games.

“We had a couple talks about how important she was to the team and how much her responsibility level was,” said head coach Matthew Mitchell. “Attacking rehab and doing everything that she could was not only good for her, but it was really good for our team.”

UK moved to 4-0 on the season.

Kentucky is back in action Wednesday at Noon. The Wildcats host Eastern Michigan at Memorial Coliseum.
