LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities in Edmonson County, Kentucky, have been combing Mammoth Cave National Park in an effort to find a missing Glasgow, Kentucky man.

According to a news release from the National Park Service, park staff began searching for Randy Rascoe Thursday afternoon after his vehicle had been found abandoned in the visitor center parking lot.

On Thursday, park rangers performed a quick search of the park headquarters area, with no results. Rascoe's family was notified.

The following day, park staff were joined by Edmonson County Emergency Management Director Pat Prunty, as well as seven volunteers, who searched park facilities and about 1/4-mile radius from the location of the visitor center parking lot, with no results. On Saturday, the search was expanded, with the help of volunteers from Hart County Rescue Squad, Butler County Rescue Squad, Edmonson County Search and Rescue, and park staff. A search dog was also employed.

Today, Vickie Carson, a spokeswoman for Mammoth Cave National Park, told WDRB News that authorities were not searching on the ground, but were instead reviewing their search plan and coordinating with the Civil Air Patrol to conduct flyovers of the park.

Rascoe has not communicated with his family for several months, according to the news release. It is not known if he is in the park. The family has asked anyone with knowledge of Rascoe to contact the Park Watch phone line at (888) 219-1599 and leave a recorded message.
