LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of an Oldham County woman.

John Downey and Bobby Long are accused of killing 34-year-old Angela Hall.

Joshua Sparkman is facing an assault charge.

Police say the Oldham County mother of three was reported missing Friday but they now believe she was murdered weeks before, on Nov. 7.

"Witnesses began coming forward, giving information that she had been assaulted with a weapon in Trimble county and possibly put into a vehicle after the assault had taken place," said Kentucky State Police Trooper Joshua Lawson.

Investigators say Hall was hit in the head with a baseball bat in Trimble County but murdered in Shelby County.

Downey's arrest report states, "...the subject repeatedly stabbed Angela Hall in the throat..." and that he "buried the body in a shallow grave, covering it with lime and dirt."

Police say Hall's body was discovered in a soybean field along Cropper Road in Shelby County. Downey and Long are also accused of trying to destroy evidence in Henry County. There's no word on a motive.

"To the best of my knowledge, all three individuals and Angela Hall were acquaintances of one another," Lawson explained. "They knew each other."

Police say it was tips that led to a break in this case and with the crime spanning different counties, several agencies were involved.

"Everybody is working very well together to get it concluded but it's a lot of effort to make all those work together," Lawson said.

Police say they don't expect to make anymore arrests in this case.

The three men are being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.
