POV | Refugees are too big a risk
Those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it.
There’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not to allow Syrian refugees into our country after the terrorist murders in Paris earlier this month. President Obama, of course, is pretending that we can screen all these refugees and guarantee that no terrorists will sneak in with them.
But I tend to agree with Marco Rubio.
"You allow 10,000 people in: 9,999 of them are innocent people fleeing oppression, and one of them is a well-trained ISIS fighter. You’ve got a huge problem on your hands." -- Marco Rubio
I'm sorry to profile Syrians, but let's be honest. They have a very bad reputation right now. This refugee infusion is a modern day Trojan Horse. If we welcome the horse into our borders, the ISIS terrorists could come pouring out. Did we seriously learn nothing from history?
Yes, we are a country of immigrants. Good people from many countries came to the United States to find a better life, not to destroy us. They didn't have an extremist faction that wanted to gain access to slaughter innocent Americans. Perhaps if the refugees' only option was to return to Syria and take their country back from ISIS, they would.
We cannot be the solution to every problem in the world. We have a boatload of self-inflicted problems of our own to deal with.
