Grayson County Sheriff's Office says a fatal domestic shooting was justified

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The Grayson County Sheriff's Office says a man was killed by his ex-wife's boyfriend, just a day after he was ordered to stay away from her.

According to a release, 54-year-old Donald Selby was served the emergency protection order Monday night, just hours after his estranged ex-wife filed for it.

But on Tuesday, police say Donald Selby was found dead at her home in Grayson County. Police say the ex-wife’s boyfriend, her son, her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend were all at the home with her when Donald Selby entered the home Tuesday, armed with a handgun.

According to a police release, Selby threatened to kill his ex-wife and her family. When the boyfriend came into the kitchen and saw Selby pointing a gun at his ex-wife, the boyfriend shot Selby one time – killing him.

Police say the woman told them her boyfriend had loaded the gun the night before, anticipating that Selby might show up.

Police say the family felt their lives were threatened and say Selby has a history of domestic violence. The man that shot Selby was not arrested at the scene and no criminal charges have been filed, police say.
