LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have identified the three people accused of robbing two adult victims in the parking lot of Jefferson Mall before leading police on a chase.

Amanda Smith, 27, Romontre Mitchell, 20, and Rafael Coleman, 20, were arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 3000 block of Old Bardstown Road, according to official police records.

Police say the three suspects were inside a vehicle used in the robbery of the victims in the parking lot of the Jefferson Mall. Police records have identified Smith as the driver of the vehicle.

Police say Coleman got out of the vehicle and approached two adults who were getting out of their car. Investigators say Coleman pointed a handgun toward the victims and demanded their cellphones and purses.

One of the victims was holding a small child during the robbery, according to police.

Officials say the car used in the robbery was seen leaving the area "at a high rate of speed." A description of the car was given to responding officers. The police report says the vehicle sped away after being spotted by an officer.

Investigators say police "pursued vehicle with lights and siren activated," but the car "still refused to stop."

The vehicle came to a stop on Old Bardstown Road, where the three suspects were arrested.

Police say they found a bullet proof vest and handgun inside the vehicle.

Smith, Mitchell and Coleman are all charged with robbery and tampering with physical evidence. Smith faces an additional charge of fleeing or evading police.

The three suspects are being held at Louisville Metro Corrections. This morning, they appeared in court. Mitchell and Coleman were in the same courtroom. The judge ordered them to have no contact with each other and with Smith. They were also told to have no contact with officials at Jefferson Mall. They were told that they can't have a weapon.

The judge also had strong words for Mitchell, calling the incident disturbing.

"If these allegations are true, your actions are very brazen, have showed great disregard for the safety of this community -- allegedly a high-speed chase through neighborhoods," the judge said.

Both men were given a $50,000 full-cash bond. Not guilty pleas were entered on their behalf.

Amanda Smith also appeared before a judge in a separate courtroom. She was given a $15,000 bond and was given the stipulation of "no new arrest." A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf.
