LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Five teams exit and five newcomers enter my Associated Press college basketball Top 25 poll ballot.

My research showed that 18 teams from the AP pre-season Top 25 have already been beaten.

Here is my ballot for the poll that will be released Monday at 1:30 p.m.:

1.     Kentucky (6-0) – Get well, Tyler Ulis.

2.     Michigan State (7-0) – Denzel Valentine is the early leader for national player of the year.

3.     Maryland (6-0) – The Terps started to play like a top five team. Ask Rhode Island.

4.     Duke (6-1) – The Blue Devils scored at least 80 in their last three games – and host Indiana Wednesday night.

5.     Kansas (4-1) – The Jayhawks took everything home from Maui but hotel soap.

6.     North Carolina (5-1) – Still waiting for Marcus Paige to heal.

7.     Villanova (6-0) – Believe it or not, the Wildcats are first in Jeff Sagarin’s computer rankings.

8.     Iowa State (5-0) – Former Murray coach Steve Prohm has started strong for the Cyclones.

9.     Virginia (5-1) – I’m still surprised the Cavaliers lost to George Washington.

10. Oklahoma (4-0) – Lon Kruger has been in Norman long enough to have his kind of team.

11. Purdue (6-0) – The massive Boilermakers visit Pittsburgh Tuesday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

12. Syracuse (6-0) – Beating UConn always make the Orange feel good, despite their issues with the NCAA.

13. Vanderbilt (5-1) – Other than Kansas, nobody in Maui was as good as the Commodores.

14. Xavier (7-0) – Whipped Alabama, USC and Dayton by an average of nearly 20 points.

15. Cincinnati (7-0) – Give Mick Cronin some applause. He’s earned it.

16. Gonzaga (4-1) – The Zags bounced back from their loss to Texas A&M to beat UConn.

17. West Virginia (6-0) – I’m just waiting for one of Bob Huggins’ guys to predict they’ll beat Kentucky.

18. Arizona (6-1) – The loss? By four to Providence.

19. Miami (5-1) – Too much love for the Hurricanes last week. They lost to Northeastern.

20. Louisville (5-0) – Rick Pitino thinks his team deserves more love in the polls? It will come if they beat Michigan State or Kentucky.

21. Oregon (5-0) – The Ducks’ best wins are over Baylor and Valpo.

22. Texas A&M – Billy Kennedy is another former Murray coach doing well.

23. Baylor (4-1) – The Bears haven’t beaten anybody but the computer polls like them anyway.

24. UConn (4-2) – Why are the Huskies the only two-loss team on my ballot? The losses were by three points to Syracuse and Gonzaga.

25. Butler (4-1) – I didn’t move the Bulldogs up from last week because I don’t give credit for beating SIU-Edwardsville.

Dropped out: Indiana, Notre Dame, Wichita State, LSU, California.
