LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a woman after she was involved in a DUI crash, then punched a police officer in the face.

According to an arrest report, it happened on Sunday, just after 8 p.m., near the intersection of Fern Valley Road and Poplar Level Road.

Police say two vehicles were involved in an injury accident at that location. When they arrived, they found a 1996 green Honda unoccupied, with the passenger standing nearby. The other vehicle that was involved in the crash was also nearby, with the driver still in it, police say.

A witness told police that the driver of the Honda had fled, running across the street to the parking lot of a credit union, according to the arrest report.

Police say they found a wallet inside the Honda, with identification belonging to 21-year-old Morgan Trotter. The passenger of the Honda allegedly told police that Trotter was the driver.

Police say they found Trotter at the credit union, "belligerent and clearly under the influence, as well as combative toward officer." She admitted to drinking alcohol and using heroin, according to the report, and "was barely able to walk, talk, or be coherent at all." As a result, she was taken to University Hospital.

While at the hospital, Trotter allegedly "got belligerent...screaming at the nurses and cussing them while in their face." When a police officer intervened, Trotter allegedly punched that officer in the face. The officer did not suffer any significant injury.

Ultimately, police say it was determined that Trotter, "was at fault in the accident, which resulted in significant damage to the other vehicle, more than likely over $1,000, as well as sent the driver to the ER with multiple injuries." Police say she, "wantonly drove her vehicle with no regard for human life," and that she, "did not render aid at all to her passenger, or the other driver."

She was arrested and charged with DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Driving Without Insurance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, second degree Assault, third degree Assault, Criminal Mischief and Wanton Endangerment.

She is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
