Federal officials say former Johnson Co., Ky. teacher sentenced to 14 years for sexual exploitation of a minor
Federal authorities say Robert Cantrell illegally enticed a minor to engage in sexual activity.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former Johnson County, Kentucky high school teacher, who admitted he sexually exploited a minor student, has been sentenced to serve 14 years in federal prison.
Robert Cantrell, 26, of Versailles, Kentucky, received the sentence last Tuesday, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office that was issued on Monday. The judge also ordered Cantrell to serve 15 years of supervised release following his sentence.
Authorities say Cantrell illegally enticed a minor to engage in sexual activity. Officials say Cantrell admitted in 2014 that he "enticed a minor student to text him sexually explicit images of the student engaging in sexually explicit conduct." The release says Cantrell also admitted that "he had induced the minor student to engage in sex acts with him."
Cantrell is required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence under federal law.
