LMPD: Louisville man wanted for robbery spree & attempted murder

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a string of robberies and an attempted murder.

Police say the suspect has been armed with a gun in each robbery and in one case, shot a man.

Lt. Jennifer Coe with LMPD's Robbery Unit says the robberies started in late September and have continued with the most recent one happening on November 25th.

Lt. Coe says the hold-ups have been happening in the morning or afternoon hours and the suspect normally gets away with money from the cash register.

Authorities say they believe the suspect is responsible for the following robberies:

09/30/15              PPG Paints                        2731 W. Broadway

10/07/15              Easy Cash Cards               1261 S. Preston St.

10/28/15              Dollar General                    3036 W. Broadway

10/29/15              Alibaba Smoke Shop         1481 S. 7th St.

10/30/15              7th Street Food Mart          2517 S. 7th St.

11/07/15              Cardinal Market                  7312 St. Andrews Church Rd.

11/16/15              Marathon                            6000 Manslick Rd.

11/25/15              PPG Paints                        12721 Shelbyville Rd.

Police say the suspect shot a Louisville resident David Bryant in the October 30th robbery and he’s still recovering from his injuries.

"He's still in the hospital. He's going through rehab where they're having to teach him how to talk again and things like that, so he'll be in rehab for an extensive amount of time," said Lt. Todd Kessinger.

Bryant's sister Margie Sanders says she just happened to be driving by the store the day her brother got shot.

"I just seen him sitting there covered in blood and I was like that's my brother, that's my brother,” said Sanders.

She says his road to recovery has been a long one.

"He's going through a lot right now. It's still maybe months for him to be back to his normal self,” she told WDRB,

Sanders says her family is good friends with the owner of the food mart and Bryant just happened to be helping out in the store that day.

A donation bucket sits on the front counter.

“He's the type of guy who would do anything for you, give you anything,” said Sanders.

While police are only looking for the man pictured, Margie Sanders says there was another suspect involved in her brother's shooting.

"I want them  caught and I want justice served for my brother,” she said.

Police describe the suspect as a black male and say he is between 35 and 40 years old.

Officials also say he is between 5'8 and 5'10 and 175 to 185 pounds. Police also say the man has a beard.

His getaway vehicle is described as a late 90's or early 2000's model tan extended GMC or Chevy extended-cab truck.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or anyone with information that could help police is asked to call 574-LMPD.
