Burglar leaves unusual clue in south Louisville home

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The holiday season has been anything but merry for Sandra Morris.

Just a few days before Thanksgiving, she came home to a rude awakening.

“I noticed there was broken glass and a hammer laying there. So I told my son 'don't go in yet' and I called PD,'” said Morris.

An LMPD detective arrived at the scene. When they walked inside, Morris' worst nightmare became a reality.

Two guns, jewelry, Christmas money, electronics and a small safe were all gone. But one item that wasn't taken stood out among the rest.

“I had a Nook (tablet) in my bedroom on my dresser. During the robbery it was moved from my dresser to downstairs on the kitchen counter," Morris explained. “And someone had logged in to their Facebook.”

LMPD says based on the profile, it appears to be a minor.

Morris decided to do a little digging of her own.

“I seen this long history of messages that were astounding, I guess you could say. They were horrible -- about marijuana, about selling guns,” said Morris. "I want them to be punished.

The detective kept the tablet as evidence.

Morris said the break-in ruined her Thanksgiving but is hopeful for a better Christmas.

“What matters is that nothing happened to us," Morris said. "We weren't here during the robbery, because it could have been bad. We're very, very lucky that we still have everybody here."

The tablet is with LMPD, and the burglary is under investigation.
