Volunteers sought for 'Shop with a Hero' Saturday

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Organizers of a popular holiday shopping program for children invite volunteers to help with this year's "Shop with a Hero" in far southern Louisville.

Valley View Church and metro council members Vicki Welch and David Yates seek police officers, fire fighters, first responders and active and retired members of the military to assist children in selecting and giving gifts from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 5.

The event is held at the Kohl's department store off Preston Highway, at 11811 Standiford Plaza Drive.

It gives needy children the opportunity to feel the joy of shopping for Christmas gifts. They buy presents for siblings, parents, themselves or others with money donated for the program.

Anyone interested in volunteering can call council member David Yates' office at (502) 574-1125.
