LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Shepherdsville father has been arrested after police say he assaulted his three-month-old son so violently that the child suffered bleeding on his brain.
According to an arrest report, the alleged assault took place on Nov. 22, at a home on 5th Avenue, near Old Preston Highway, in Shepherdsville.
Shepherdsville Police say the baby was later taken to an area hospital, suffering from retinal hemorrhages in each eye and bleeding on the brain caused by blunt force trauma.
The doctors allegedly determined that the injuries were caused when the baby was violently shaken -- and that it happened while the child was in the care of his father, 26-year-old Joshua A. Allen.
Allen was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 3. He is charged with first degree assault.
He is currently being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
