Section 8 housing may soon be available for felons that complete their sentence

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- In the near future, convicted felons who have served their time may no longer be banned from Section 8 housing in Louisville.

The federal government is urging the move.

It would allow people with a history of drug or violent felony offenses to become eligible for federal housing assistance. The Louisville Metro Housing Authority must approve the change before it could take effect next year.

It's accepting public comment on the plan through December 14th.
