LEWIS | Male dominates Lafayette in state football championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WDRB) - Male quarterback Hayden Shelton threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (15-0) to a dominating 41-14 victory over Lexington Lafayette (12-3) in Saturday night's 6A KHSAA Championship.

"It was just a hard road to get here. We've had three years in a row where we felt like we had a chance to get here and to finally do it is pretty special," said Male head coach Chris Wolfe.

The championship marks the first state title for the Bulldogs since 2000 and Male's first undefeated season since 1964.

"To be one of the best Male High team ever...it just feels great. We finally finished," said receiver Keion Wakefield, who caught two touchdowns in the win.

Lafayette quarterback Walker Wood, a UK commit, passed for 229 yards and a touchdown and rushed 136 yards with one touchdown.
