LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Louisville churches honored victims who died from violence Sunday morning.

Ridgewood Baptist joined Highland Baptist to place white crosses in the front lawn of the church. Each cross represents one death.

The names of all the people killed in Jefferson County this year were also read during a ceremony.

Rev. Phillip Garrett says its unacceptable for their to be 80 crosses, adding that this is the most violent year in Louisville that he can remember.

We really have to pay attention to each other, and pay attention to what's going on in our city and why this is happening," Rev. Garrett said.

Families of the victims were invited to attend the service.

The goal of the 18-year tradition is to promote peace and community awareness.
