LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A family is increasing a reward to $85,000 to try and find who killed their son.

Jack Combs, III, was shot and killed outside the St. Matthews Kroger store where he worked in Nov. 2013. The reward was $55,000, but his family has boosted it to $85,000.

Jack Combs Jr, the victim's father says, "We are succeeding in getting happy and Jack would want us to be happy,
so we will not forget Jack and we will not forget our duty to seek justice for Jack."

It's been a tough two years for the family not knowing who killed their son.

Officer Troy Armstrong with the St. Matthews Police Dept, says, "$85,000 can change lives for many people. For me, it would be a great motivation. I'm hoping somebody out there sees that."

St. Matthews Police say it's still an open investigation. Police initially charged another employee, Aaron Cross, with the murder.
But, the case was dismissed.

Armstrong says, "We are hoping that the increase in the reward will generate more interest from the public, giving us info they may have deemed inconsequential that we would love to hear and that may be what breaks the case for us."

Combs says, "It is our hope that LMPD will join forces with the St. Matthews Police Dept. and form a dream investigative team
that hopefully we can solve this."

Police say they are not ruling out that more than one person may have been involved.
Combs is hoping adding more money to the reward will lead to an arrest and conviction.

He says, "I would like to invite anyone with info on the murder of my son to come forward with that information."

St. Matthews Police say they continue to follow up on and investigate leads.
