Officers arrest Clark County couple for stealing hundreds of items from homes and storage units

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A couple sits in the Clark County Jail after investigators say they stole electronics, china, sporting equipment and more from homes and storage units.

One of the victims, Dave Case, says he has been hit twice in the last few months. He says burglars took thousands of dollars in valuables from his home.

"The house got broken into and my warehouse at the storage unit."

Clark County Sheriff's detectives arrested a southern Indiana couple Sunday night and recovered hundreds of stolen items.

"A lot of times, we'll be able to tie in one case and get a little bit of property back," Det. Sgt. Nick Mobley said. "But whenever you can get this amount of property from so many burglaries, this is a good hit for us."

Detectives say Landon Rothbauer and Errin Knight have hit homes and storage units in southern Indiana and Louisville and were using a pickup truck to haul it away.

"We've had numerous burglaries for probably the last three months, and we were getting a lot of information about a male and a female with a Dodge truck," Det. Sgt. Mobley said.

Police say Rothbauer sold some of the stolen property at pawn shops, but they were a little surprised at what the couple did with the stuff they could not sell.

"They were actually taking the home furnishings and decorating their own house with them," Capt. Scottie Maples said. [That] is very unusual on our part."

Now that there has been an arrest, Case hopes to get his valuables back.

"It has been confirmed ... a lot of it was my stuff."
