LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville band My Morning Jacket is nominated for a Grammy Award.

The band's 2015 album "The Waterfall" is nominated for Best Alternative Music Album.

It's competing against Alabama Shake's "Sound and Color," Bjork's "Vulnicura," Tame Impala's "Currents," and Wilco's "Star Wars" in that category.

According to allmusic.com, My Morning Jacket was founded in Louisville in 1998 by singer-songwriter Jim James, alongside his cousin Johnny Quaid (guitar), Tom Blankenship (bass), and J.Glenn (drums).

The group released its first album, "The Tennessee Fire," in 1999, which became a hit in Europe.

The band is rooted in alt-country and rock & roll, but given to sonic experimentation and unexpected genre changes at every turn.

The Grammy Awards return to L.A's Staples Center on February 15th, 2016. A host has not yet been announced.
