LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Security at Fern Creek High School has returned to a normal level 2 after a brief threat Wednesday morning.

"After coordinating our investigation with board security and the Sheriff’s Department, we have determined the source of the potential threat to Fern Creek High School for today," said Nate Meyer, principal of Fern Creek High. "We increased the level of security to allow all involved time to thoroughly investigate the situation and determined that there was no threat to our school."

"Our first priority at Fern Creek is the safety of our students," Meyer said. "We appreciate the concern and support of our faculty, staff and parents. We are committed to updating you whenever a situation occurs that causes concern for the safety of our school."

JCPS spokesperson Bonnie Hackbarth told WDRB News earlier Wednesday morning that there were rumors of a threat made at a basketball game Tuesday night and that district officials had deemed the comments to not be credible.

Meyer said school operations will go on as usual throughout the day Wednesday.
