New Albany Police identify victim in overnight shooting outside Waffle House

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in New Albany are investigating a homicide at the Waffle House on West Spring Street.\

New Albany Chief of Police Col. Todd Bailey says Charles Fischbach, 24, of Lanesville, was found on the ground near a vehicle in the restaurant's parking lot. Police say Fischbach had been shot.

Authorities say officers were advised of the situation just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

Chief Bailey says the Fischbach was taken by EMS to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Branden Fischbach, Charles' cousin, was shocked to hear the news.

"I heard he was there with a friend, and he walked out to his car. And he got shot in the back," Branden said.

"I hope there's surveillance videos to catch whoever done it."

Officials have not released any information regarding a suspect.

"He don't deserve this," Branden said. "He has a son that's never going to be able to see him again."
