LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The parents of a murdered 7-year-old Kentucky girl are trying to cope with the loss.

"I hit my knees beside that bench and I said, 'Please God, please let her be okay,'" said Amy Doolin, the victim's mother. "But then they came back right after that and they said she was already gone."

Gabbi Doolin went missing from her brother's football game at Allen County High School. She was found dead a short time later in the woods near the school.

Timothy Madden has been charged with sexual assault and murder.

Madden's daughter was a cheerleader with Gabbi.

"She'd been around him at all the practices and games," Amy Doolin said. "She would have trusted him just enough."

"I wouldn't have thought it was somebody who was on the sidelines with us time in, time out," said Brian Doolin, Gabbi's father. "I don't ever have thoughts like that about my friends' kids."

Gabbi's parents say her empty bedroom will stay the way she left it, as they vow to see justice served.

Madden is set to appear in court in January.
