LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a man got into a car to steal it -- but he couldn't stay awake long enough to finish the job.
According to an arrest report, it happened on Thursday, Dec. 17. Police say 25-year-old Joey Odle, Jr. admitted to getting into a car near the corner of Lochwick Way and Ashby Lane in order to steal it.
But he fell asleep instead.
When police arrested Odle, he allegedly had a 9mm rifle and a plastic bag of suspected heroin and methamphetamine in his possession.
He was charged with theft by unlawful taking of an auto, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance.
But those weren't Odle's only crimes, according to police. Police say Odle admitted to stealing three other vehicles on other occasions -- one of which police say was taken while it was still running outside a home. He's charged with three counts of theft by unlawful taking in connection with those separate incidents.
