January-February dates added to see American Pharoah in retirement

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More tickets went up for sale on Friday to see American Pharoah in retirement, and they sold out in just 4 hours!

Individual tickets went on sale at noon.

Last month, the Triple Crown winner retired to Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Versailles, Kentucky.

About two dozen people a day take the tour to see him.

"He's living the good life," said Scott Calder, who works in sales and marketing for Coolmore America. "He has time out in the field every morning, he comes in and gets a groom, and then he's up in the stall for the rest of the day."

Tours are offered Monday through Friday starting at 2:30 p.m., but tickets must be purchased ahead of time.

"The tours that started on Nov. 30 sold out in just under 24 hours. We had about five weeks of tours that were available, and to see them go that quick was really fun," said Anne Hardy.

The tour is run by the non-profit Horse Country, that works to expose more people to the horse industry. Money from the tours goes to the non-profit and local charities that support horses.

On Friday, December 18th, Horse Country offered additional tour dates to see the Triple Crown winner. The cost was $20 for adults and $11 for children (under 12). Individual tickets were offered here, but sold out in 4 hours.

Additional dates for individual tickets are expected to be added sometime next year.

Some special packages including regional attractions are also being offered. For information about those tours, email info.horsecountry@gmail.com.
