LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Star Wars fans were still flocking to the box office Friday, anxious to see the new film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Inside Cinemark Theaters in St. Matthews, you could see moviegoers getting everything they need to enjoy the seventh film in the Star Wars franchise.

A child waited outside, making lightsaber motions and noises.

"It's getting a little too cold," he said.

Richard Courtney, a lifelong fan, showed up in a Chewbacca costume.

"Can you please give us your best Chewbacca impression?" asked WDRB's Samantha Chatman.

"Oh no," Courtney laughed.

Later, he added, "I don't know. It's nostalgic. I can still remember going to the first VH store with my dad. And old Blockbusters. We don't have them anymore. And getting the original movies."

Others are here to see the world renowned actors.

"To see Harrison Ford," said fan Alicia Johnson. "That's it.  And have a good time."

The movie is expected to generate $230 million dollars in ticket sales for the weekend.
