LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found dead in the 2100 block of Dahlia Avenue, near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Lancashire Avenue, early Monday.

Police and medical crews were called to the scene around 9:15 a.m.

"I didn't expect this.  I mean right in our backyard," said Amanda Church, who saw the man's body lying near her home.

I saw some ambulance and cop cars.  The cop told me to come around the front.  I looked over and he was laying there against our fence and that was really disturbing," Church said.

Police say the victim is a white male, possibly in his 30s, who was found near a fence. Officers say the man's cause of death is unclear, and they have no suspects at this time.

A resident from the area says it's a safe neighborhood, but they've been dealing with frequent break-ins.

WDRB reporter Samantha Chatman spoke to another resident who was shaken up by the crime scene.

I'm a little bit of a nosey neighbor and I've never seen anything like this," said Mike Markwell.  "This is a quiet neighborhood.

Police say they may be able to release more information about the manner of death after an autopsy has been conducted. Meanwhile, anyone with information is asked to call 502-574-LMPD.
