LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than 750 local families received free Christmas gifts today thanks to the Lord's Kitchen.

Members of the Lord's Kitchen handed out gifts at the Corner of Hope Church on Dixie Highway. It's part of the organization's coats and food drive giveaway.

The gifts were given to people who registered for the program, and the lines started forming early.

"We're giving gifts away, we're giving backpacks, personal hygiene items, and we're also giving food and in some cases, we're also giving winter coats," said Rex Chesser, executive director with the Lord's Kitchen.

"We just want to warm hearts with coats and with love, and we also want to be the people who tries to help dreams come true with the gifts for the children this year."

Each family received a Christmas gift or a coat and a food package for the holidays.
